Deal Maritime & Local History Museum

Welcome to the Deal Maritime and Local History Museum.  Our displays portray the changing history of Deal, Walmer and the surrounding area and we are packed to the rafters with fascinating glimpses into the past. 

Our Deal boats include the Saxon King, built in 1891 and a Dunkirk “Little Ship.”  We have a wonderful collection of model boats, too. Come and find out more about the impact of the Goodwin Sands on Deal and tales of smuggling and lifeboat rescues.

Browse the information on the famous people who have lived in the area, the Hooden Horse which delighted children on Christmas Eve, local industries and shops and the impact of the Royal Marines in Deal.

Donate Artefacts and Records

Donated this year, a sign for Herbert Bradshaw, ladies and gents tailor. Located in 1904 at 126 College Road, Deal. By 1915 at 174 High Street and then at 149 High street (now a car park).
